Dale, the difference is, "my"/our guy IS the President of the United States. Like it or not, he speaks for ALL of us. Gore, Belafonte, Carter, Michael Moore, any from Follywood, and all the cast of characters who speak loudly with their bile, do NOT speak for ALL of us.

The POTUS does represent the citizens of the US. Anyone who tries to tear down the man or woman who holds that office tries to tear down every one of the citizens in the US, IMO.

We can all disagree with the President, but I believe that the disagreement should be civil and polite, if for nothing else, but to respect the office and the US citizens which the Office represents.

Re the crack about the "war veteran"....if that is to be the criteria in the future, guess we won't have many candidates for Pres in the future, will we?

Seems to me we currently have LOTS of the "had something better to do now than join the military crowd" folks, don't we? And that does include Hillary. As well as all the President wantabees in the next 10-20 years. "Be careful what you ask for"....you know the rest of the line.

And as to who I'd like to see run for each party? Honestly, right this minute, I don't know. If Zell Miller were younger....or Sam Nunn was available.....or maybe Newt....Henry M. Jackson if he were alive.... But really, I liked Ronald Reagan. He was smart, picked good people by in large, was personable, wasn't perfect, but did have some major accomplishments, and held the Office of the President with respect and honor.
