The industry TRIED to assist in solving the problem! Some years ago all the 'religious' groups (read: right wing fundamentalists mostly) were pushing for an XXX domain to be set up for all porno to be settled in... theory being that it would then be EASIER for parents to block it and such. A little 'red light' district for the Internet, easier to regulate and keep from kids. So, the industry thought about it and then decided that the idea made sense and came out for. <Since then Bush had been elected> And the 'religious folks FLIP-FLOPPED and now say "no, no, no, don't make an XXX domain." LOL! So now the Bush folks say they want random folks' Google records! (Well, Big Brother can always be expected to act like Big Brother....)
