In this business (telecom connected), reverse splits means that your pile of money will get smaller. I've lived through quite a few since AT&T was diversified back in 1984. Overtime they all cost me something.

If LUCENT can't attract knowledgeable investors at $2.58 a share, why would they want to purchase it at lets say $25.80 a share after a 1 for 10 reverse split for example?

The only thing I can see a price of $25.80 a share doing is removing the day traders because they don't like playing with stocks in that price range. They'd just move on to some other company with a less than $5/share price ... although they'd have to look hard to find the daily activity that LUCENT generates each day because it has so many shareholders.

If they do a reverse split I'll probably wind up with about 8 shares since I only own 80 shares anymore. Had thousands at one time but I finally gave up and moved out of the LUCENT Stock Fund that was within my 401K. Of course I could always buy back in ... I shouldn't even think like that anymore. I purchased several times on the way down from the old $80/share. The last time I purchased was around $17/share thinking that was the bottom but history has certainly proved that it wasn't. That's one certain thing about history ... looking back the facts never lie do they. You can only look back at history and no one I've met yet can predict the future.

I could have bought a nice little mega mansion here where I live with what I lost on paper with LUCENT.
