High Tide sounds interesting. I'm once again embarrassed to admit that I cannot remember if I've seen it, and I might have. I will put it on my new list.

I know it is frustrating, nay angering, sometimes when people can't remember stuff they should (I don't mean here, I mean in the world generally). MJ does really well tolerating, but has to let most things go. I don't know exactly what this cause is, but huge blocks are erased all the time. Besides definite physical causes, there is the kind of humorous possibility that my brain simply isn't big enough. It's not the QE II, it's a canoe. If someone gets in, something has to get out. And the exchange has to take place as a coordinated effort by all involved, or Mr. Clark leaves us in Missouri and takes the paddles.

As I wave, I realize I'm barefoot.

Even if something is memorized conscientiously, it is as tho time shifts along a faultline and the info is completely lost. No amount of retracing is going to get it back.

My mother has serious Alzies but she's 36 years older than I. What bothers is that other than general impressions of life and skills, most of my efforts in education are lost. It doesn't matter how carefully ingested. My cousin, who really did blow his mind out in a car, remembers more on total than I do; but he started out with thrice as much. He went from unable to talk or walk, to pissing his brother and me off. [I was amazed, don't know why, to find out they use a hospital system of "Rancho Levels" to generalize abilities - Dick would say, "He's a Rancho Five now." Rancho? I can't decide if I like it or not. It sounds like out-to-lunch and pasture, or living in 50's suburbia, which is sort of mindless too.] And these are the things I'm able to think about and remember, instead of where the goddam car is, in the parking garage.

I'm a danger to civilization, and sanity. And as we lesslings have to say to defend ourselves, "Oh yeah!? Tough titties."

Now there's an expression I don't understand. (I wonder if that means...or maybe...
