I've noticed that some serious money was made on GOOG puts today.. a 10k investment would have returned over 900k.

that's the kind of thing that can break a clearinghouse, or some retard who sold naked puts. considering a couple hundred thousand contracts traded today, this is EASILY the biggest percentage money maker in the history of wall street options.
