I guess we have to assume the worst case where none of the Iranian people support the invasion.

I may be wrong, but methinks the US has a few other options it could pursue, including supporting dissidents and opposition leaders within Iran and giving them a bit of what they've been giving Iraq and the rest of the region.

I also think such a course would win covert support from other countries in the region..

But this is just a complete guess on my part.

All I know is that with the level of governmental disapproval within Iran, an invasion is the last resort we'd want to rely upon.
