Firm sues Intel over "inside" word

Inside, outside, upside, downside, eastside, westside

AN OHIO COMPANY has sued Intel because it wants to use the "inside" word for its electronics payments services.

Internet Transaction Solutions Inc (ITS) filed the case because Intel had threatened to sue ITS over the use of a mark "ePayments Inside".

Intel has alleged the use of the "inside" word constitutes trademark infringement and dilution.

ITS said it had submitted an application to register the ePayments Inside mark with the US Patent and Trademark Office on the 23rd of November, with that application pending.

ITS alleges that lots of marks use the word "inside" and it and Intel are in completely different kinds of business. Intel Inside is a registered trademark, and ePayments Inside is a service mark. So there's no possibilty of ITS confusing or besmirching the Intel Inside trademark, ITS claims...
