If my toe screams in pain, that is what is relevant to me, sure. But if I stop hitting it with a hammer, then my toe won't hurt.

While it's true that prices affect me, I don't agree that it's pointless to look at the root cause, because that's something that can be controlled, and is in fact controlled in order to engineer retail inflation which enables a stealth tax on the ignorant and allows those in power to hand the new, hot money to their corporate handlers (pre-retail inflation) while leaving the masses to enjoy the resulting surge in retail prices long before they ever see any uptick in wages (since raises come after inflation, not before).

That said, the "everything you need to know" sums it up -- I care about the whacky policies that put pressure on prices (stocks, real estate, gold, whatever), but on a day to day basis, I care about the prices themselves, too. There's no point in ignoring one simply because it causes (or is caused by) the other.
