Not that I want to get into defending Kerry, but the ribbons he tossed had been given to him by a wounded vet who couldn't make the event. He ASKED Kerry to toss them. As Kerry has expalined, several times.

I'm sure Kerry lobbied to get his decorations, he was planning on going into politics, and knew they would be useful. Kerry wasn't a Senator or anyone with special clout at that time. His decorations weren't any more or less deserved than ANY soldiers medals. My father got a Purple Heart in WW II for a tiny piece of sharpnel in his ass. He didn't even ask for it. The military LOVES to give out decorations for any reason. It "builds morale".

The thing is, Kerry served, Bush hid. And supposedly Bush SUPPORTED that war, as long as he was 10,000 miles away from it.
