Why should those with a family business or farm get to keep it going in perpetuity, but the heirs of a salaried worker get nothing from the former career?

You're framing it as an issue of fairness. I did not address the fairness aspect, only the practical one, as I clearly stated.

I will make one observation on the fairness aspect. Say that great grandpa Picasso painted a picture of your mother as a child and you have loved that painting all your life. It has enormous sentimental value. Do you think it's fair that you should have to give it up because Picasso was famous and the painting has a high market value.

Say that your dad came up with the world's best burger and had a restaurant in the old neighborhood all is life. Say you have to shut it down because you can't find a buyer since it's a low earning business and you can't afford the taxes, either. Do you think that's fair to the neighborhood? To its employees?

Perhaps you have some thoughts on the practicality aspect...
