Say that your dad came up with the world's best burger and had a restaurant in the old neighborhood all is life.

Either the restaurant was only good because of dear old Dad's influence, or the restaurant will remain in the neighborhood under new ownership. They might want to hire you as host just for the name. You always have the option of starting the way Dad did.

As to the Picaso, if you can't afford the painting then you probably can't afford the insurance. If you can, you keep it.

Imagine that your Dad worked for a company that had a great annual picknic and you really liked attending. After he passes on do you expect to go (assuming you don't work there yourself?). It really doesn't matter how much you enjoyed it in the first place.

In most cases, if the estate is planned with any care then usually the asset can be retained, perhaps with a mortgage.
