>>>my writing will no longer be restrained<<<

Well, we were getting tired of your uptight, buttoned-up, pinstripe-suit manner [ggg].

I was just about to post how tired I am of the lack of restraint by financial writers when it comes to flinging the dead metaphors around. I respect Stephen Roach, but just read these sentences:

"A likely turn in the liquidity cycle appears to be on a collision course with ever-widening global imbalances. This could well be a lethal combination that triggers the long-awaited capitulation of the American consumer -- heretofore the mainstay of a US-centric world."

So here comes a tsunami of money washing up against a tottering seawall, which somehow turns poisonous ("lethal combination") and pulls some kind of trigger ("BLAM") so that the American consumer raises his hands in the air, except that this consumer was actually a part of the rigging of a sailing ship ("mainstay")?

It gets worse, but that is enough.
