Enron and Bush-Cheney were very close. The enormous gouging in 2000-2001 (which is proven by the way, including with some of the Enron perps taped planning how to cheat more) could not have accured without Bush-Cheney's cooperation and approval. The prices kept going up and up and Cheney was saying we needed 1700 new power plants (which Halliburton and Bectel would build at taxpayer expense) then as soon as Jeffords switched parties giving Dems subpoena powers, the price tumbled and there was a sudden energy glut. Same as happened about six weeks ago wqhen Dems started demanding windfall profits taxes and the Exxon CEO grilled. Also, Prince Bandar is quoted as promising to bring down oil prices before the election to help Bush, proving they can and do manipulate the prices whenever they want.

In addition, Enron and Bush-Cheney-RNC were using the same PR pointman, Ed Gillespie, who was being paid by Enron to try and blame the energy gouging on democrats. At the same time Bush-Cheney were promising to "jawbone OPEC' and bring down prices. Which they never did. On the contrary.

The price of energy is up something in the 50% area since Bush-Cheney were first nominated, and the fix was in all the way. Bush-Cheney were brought to the dance by big energy and they went home and slept with them afterward. So long as Bush-Cheney are in power do not expect a single move to be made to curtail price gouging and/or pollution.
