Is there a year when these background fogs were instituted? I am thinking of hanging onto a very old HP B&W that is in need of some repair but works like a dog and has a no-cartridge, you fill the well yourself, ink replacement (for less than $5 a fill up). If the old HP comes without tracking devices, I am keeping it.
As an aside, I might note that it is a good thing to be a member of a private site, SI, whereas the big guys - MSN, Google, Yahoo, AOL, etc., can be forced to open or destroy or use or prevent the use of archived material. Having paid for this service, I imagine (perhaps I am being idealistic in an archaic way), that pages here are not accessible by Big Brother.
