Isn't AMD wise enough to choose another location...?

Mort, from his position on the board, does not have to go into the office every day. The worst traffic anywhere near Austin is the stretch between Hector Ruiz' house in Lakeway and the current AMD site. He is determined to have an office near his home. He feels AMD owes it to him.

This is the same train of thought that went through the Dell executive mindset when they moved the corporate headquarters near their homes. I think it was the start of Dell's (modest) decline. It's not just that the executives quit going to the plants and summoned managers to headquarters, it was a sign that they were putting their perks in front of general company interests.
