If the market goes up we lose. If the market goes down, nobody will be there to pay our winnings.

This is exactly my question. What happens to my short position when CTX goes bankrupt and my broker who holds this position for me goes tits up too? How will I get my money back? Any thoughts. My broker doesn't know the answer, because it doesn't even cross their mind that they can go broke.
