How did Japan do it?

OK since US consumer debt here is much grater we should have greater pain. Or perhaps it play out over a longer timeframe (ugh). Perhaps a huge portion of discretionary spending dies.

Perhaps just a markedly lower standard of living.

Remember if prices decline cash goes a lot further. Provided of course one has a job. Medical expenses are one of the biggest hurdles and I do not have an answer.

Perhaps Mish is simply an optimist. ggg
