You must not compare snail pace with the speed of a bullet!
Don't forget the world of the Romans was a slow-moving world and things took an inordinate amount of time to happen & etc.
Ours is such a very fast moving world that 250 years of our time may be equivalent to 2000 years in the ancient world. If the average lifespan of a civilization or empire = 2000 years of old time, it looks like the American world and American Imperialism (or Pax Americana) may be drawing to a close??????
BTW, they say the end usually comes slowly: it would be imperceptible yet inexorable, as was seen to be the case, time and time again, for the empires and civilizations of yore.
You said those Asians want jeans and tee shirts, and drugs ro achieve rock-hard erections? Wrong! You've got it all wet. Probably misled by sensational propaganda. I was in China recently and I saw nothing of that sort. The Chinese told me they have tee shirts and jeans not because they hankered for them but because they were asked to manufacture about 90% of the world's clothings by the west which is taking advantage of the cheap labour in China. (A Chinese is willing to work for 1/8, and a Mexican for 1/4, of the wage of an American!)
The Chinese and Indians told me that long before the western world discovered the impotence aspirins (Viagara, Cialis and Levitra), they already have been using for a very long long time, Ginseng, Yohimbine and other natural aphrodisiacs that do not produce unpleasant side effects (e.g. blue vision, hot face and priapism (uncontrollable and painful erections)).
I understand that the Jews and the Arabs are half-brothers or half-cousins descended from the Biblical half-brothers Isaac and Ishmel and they have a great fondness for indulging themselves in sex. Whereas the Arabs are reporducing themselves fast, the Jews are unfortunately not. Strange, isn't it? Which goes to show that appearances are deceitful!
