The easiest thing for the interim would be to increase Nuclear Power Plants and drill in Alaska and the Gulf for more of our own resources, but in the long term we must wean ourselves ENTIRELY of non renewable energy sources. Can anyone imagin how much DIFFERENT our foreign policy could be if we did not have to concern ourselves about foreign sources for energy?

I absolutely agree that it is one of the vital strategies for long-term national security to create energy independence....so how come increasing gas milage standards or taxing gasoline is missing from your list?
