Mr. Bean, I detected a fair bit of sarcasm in your post, but no "humor." How come? Did someone strike a "nerve?" The problem with the overuse of humor, for the sake of it, is that it usually degrades to--you guessed it--sarcasm. Come to think of it, this may make a good thread topic.
You're right, anyone with perfect predictive powers should be rich. Obviously the old adage follows: "If you're so smart, why ain't you rich?" Take Lynch, Buffet, and even Cowpland, for example.
The "rub" with Corel right now, is that the expected potential of a stellar Q3 was never really there. I knew there was padding of revenue, because the receivables have reflected that fact for some time. But if the Suite 8 roll-out had been successful, the previous overstatements, could have been gradually absorbed without the "fanfare" of a monstrous loss announcement last week. Although there was evidence of the some revenue overstatement, the sheer amount of the writedown was staggering.
On an accounting basis, its better to come clean with investors and analysts, no matter what. But if sufficient sales of the truly stellar Suite 8 package could have been generated in Q3 through adequate marketing, "humor" could be enjoyed as a natural by-product of life on the thread, as opposed to the distractive topic of "humor" in an of itself.
Cheer UP!
Scott
