If you thumb your nose at taxation, you might not face deadly force depending on how they decided to enforce it. If you work as a regular employee they may grab your wages before they get to you. Otherwise they may try and seize your assets. If you resist the seizure you face deadly force. So its true if you comply at any point of the process you don't face deadly force. Its not like "you didn't pay your taxes, now we shoot you", but the threat of deadly force is behind the enforcement attempts.
