The Supreme Court refused to hear an appeal from Research In Motion over its patent dispute with NTP, leaving the outcome of the intense battle over BlackBerry technology to lower courts. RIM had asked the high court to review whether U.S. patent laws apply to its products and services, since the company's operations are located in Canada.
