There are two quite different scenarios. One is what i would call the IRA scenario where the practical needs of governance requires at least some period of peace and an accomodation (not peace) is reached with israel so the two states can live side by side without war for awhile at least. This could lead to better relations over time or at the appropriate time it could flare into war.
The other scenario is continued rejectionism even in the short term and war. First is more hopeful especially if you see ira comparison. Second one is more likely especially if hamas eliminatates oppostion from within.
