I don't think public places can exclude people.

They're not excluding you. They are simply making themselves less attractive to you. You probably don't attend motor-cross events, but that's not because they're excluding you. They are simply not your cup of tea.

I don't think places of business are private places, and I think it's dangerous to think of them that way. Homes are different.

Places of business are public places but they have no obligation to be inviting to all. I think it's dangerous to conflate exclusion with unattractiveness. I don't go to restaurants unless I can get smoke-free seating. I also don't go to French restaurants. Should French restaurants be obliged to serve something more suited to my tastes to avoid being considered exclusionary? Surely not.
