I grew up with both parents smoking at the table at the end of a meal. They would also require some time to sip on a hot cup of coffee after dinner/lunch/breakfast for a while. It was an era where 'good' children should be seen but not heard. I was a picky eater, so I was usually still nibbling for a while. Watching cigarette butts floating in egg yolk, in a smoke filled room, with hands folded in your lap may be a nostalgic memory for many people my age.

Ahhhh, memories. Doncha miss the good ole days...I mean where both parents sat down to enjoy the family dinner table, not the egg yolk stuff, of course.
