Don't think I was ignoring the silver factor as I mentioned that the launch of a silver ETF might reduce the CEF premium. In other words I was recognizing that some of the current premium is due to the silver component.

On taxes, I have no assurance that CEF would not be found to require the same tax treatment as a GLD ETF.

The issue has yet to be addressed in a U.S. tax court. The current differing de facto treatment provides grounds for State Street to insist on similar treatment, which might result in CEF holdings being classified as collectables also.

Seriously, what is the cause of the differing tax treatment?
