Company Press Release

IBM Teams with Docucon's J Feuerstein Systems to Offer
Breakthrough Technology to Legal Market

SAN ANTONIO, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 17, 1997--Docucon, Inc. (NASDAQ:DOCU) today announced that its J Feuerstein Systems (JFS) division, a leader in the legal software industry, is teaming with
IBM to set a new standard for litigation technology by providing state-of-the-art, turnkey industry solutions (software, services, hardware and financing). By joining forces, IBM, Lotus, and JFS will broaden the scope of the Lotus Notes(R) based JFS Litigator's Notebook(R) and expand their leadership in the litigation workgroup
market by providing additional applications on the combined Domino(R) and DB2(1) platform.

``JFS is one of the first solution providers to take advantage of IBM's database technology by combining it with groupware technology,'' said Bill Baker, Director of Worldwide Marketing of Small and Medium Business,IBM. ``The combination of JFS's superior solution with IBM's software is a perfect fit and offers customers an
innovative legal solution.''

In addition to Litigator's Notebook, the product offering includes JFS JazzNotes(TM), a Notes-centric imaging solution, and JFS Docket Station(TM), a docketing and calendaring tool based on Domino and IBM's DB2. Packaged and priced to make it attractive and affordable for all sizes of law practice, the product will be sold
through selected IBM and Lotus Business Partners.

``This combination will be terrific for the legal marketplace,'' said Jim Feuerstein, chief technology officer of JFS. ``It will especially benefit mid-size and smaller firms and corporate law departments. Under this program, law firms will be able to do one-stop shopping for the best available technology. They can go to a local integrator --
an integrator that JFS and IBM have selected because of its technology skills and its knowledge of law firms -- and that integrator can provide the firm with a complete package. The law firm will be able to get Notes Domino, JFS Docket Station, JFS Litigator's Notebook, hardware, installation, connection to IBM's Global Network --
even a lease for the whole thing.''

``Between the two of us,'' Feuerstein added, ``we've got the best technology available for moving law firms and law departments into the new world of workgroups, intranets and the internet. In this package, a law firm will get e-mail; firm-wide, matter-based calendaring and docketing; personal calendaring; and litigation workgroup
capability. And they'll have the expertise of local integrators to install, hand-hold and support them.

``For many smaller firms, the most exciting part of this offering may be the financial side. Thanks to the agreement between JFS and IBM, this package of Notes, JFS Litigator's Notebook, and JFS Docket Station will be priced for a five-user system just slightly higher than JFS formerly charged for just JFS Litigator's Notebook.
But now the package will also include Lotus Domino, IBM's DB2, and JFS Docket Station. And on top of that, it will now be possible to lease the entire package, so that the firm will have a flat monthly leasing fee to pay, rather than an up-front capital outlay.

``This is also important for corporate law departments. Many of our corporate users want to roll JFS Litigator's Notebook out to all their outside counsel. That can mean hundreds of small law firms, many of whom are nervous about technology. With this program, a local integrator can give each firm a package of hardware,
software and services, and take care of that technology for them on an ongoing basis. That's something JFS could never offer before.''

JFS Litigator's Notebook and JFS JazzNotes are used by over 500 law firms and corporate law departments in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. The Notebook organizes all key information for a case, including discovery documents, passages of testimony, witness profiles, and attorney notes and memos. Litigation team members work together to organize, discuss, and analyze information using this unique litigation workgroup tool.
