Actually, $3.50 or $4.00 a gallon will not mean the end of civilization as we know it. Most of the industrialized world already pays those kinds of prices for petroleum, and more, much more in some case. Life goes on. They just drive smaller cars and walk more. Much better public transport. We can adjust.

Perhaps air travel will return to the more elite status that it once enjoyed. Richard Branson wants to start flying on ethanol.
