I read Hobbes in college, Leviathan, but never got around to Calvin. From what I understood, he would fit in with the red state Taliban of today. Both he and Luther were very anti-Semitic. Leviathan, on the other hand, was very cool. Hobbes seemed to be scared of the lower classes and, of course, Spaniards. I had a professor who said The Armada scared Hobbes. He must have been a prescient child, as the Armada was defeated, by storms and The English, the same year Hobbes was born. <G>
