At the time the troops marched in, the nation was told

You can look up the Congressional resolutions authorizing the war and see that a lot of charges were made against Saddam. Trying to say the war was about one thing only is inaccurate.

FDR locked up American citizens for being of Japanese ancestry.
Did he do that secretly as BUsh did the eavesdropping.

It wasn't important that we keep the Japanese camps a secret from the enemy. It would have been a good thing if the enemy didn't know we were monitoring calls to the US.

He claims he did not do anything illegal since "he kept Congress in the loop."

It would have been within his powers as CINC even w/o notifying Congress. Clearly none of the Congressmen thought the law was being broken as they kept it to themselves for 4 years.

Wonder when he took the pains to keep Congress in the loop and not the FISA.

I think he respects the separation of powers. Also suppose some FISA judge said no, do we then fail to monitor enemy communications cause a judge said no - and possibly let people die as a result?

The NSA spying issue shows that liberals have a pre-911 mindset as Karl Rove said recently.
