I assumed 6,500 bcf per year or 17.8 per day.

The one problem I have with these green issues is they overstate their case. I understood that 3,000 MW was going to replace 5% of ng used for generation.
3,000,000 kw capacity 10,000 btu kwhr 30,000,000,000 btu hour 1,020 29,411,765 hour 8 hours a day 1,000,000,000 bcf 0.24 bcf per day
This looks like about 1.3% per day assuming 33% capacity factor. I agree these units are very easy to make an error with in these circumstances, they are also very easy to manipulate.
The problem in general is that the environazi's think green power is going to replace fossil or nuke generation. 20 years from now these types of energy sources are unlikely to provide more than a few % of new generation. So stopping a coal plant because it is not wind power plant is reckless.
It is not either or, but both. |
