"Folks" aren't going to see it the way you see it. The way you see it is a function of your hatred of Democrats. Democrats do hateful things and Republicans don't. End of story, for you.

Which leaves you blind to other factors. In the case of Ginsburg and Alito, another variable is time. Over time, the rhetoric has become nastier. Ginsberg occurred before Alito, ergo Ginsburg rhetoric could be expected to be tamer than Alito rhetoric independent of party. And the Republican rhetoric for the next Democratic nominee can be expected to be even worse than that against Alito unless we can do something about the culture of partisan nastiness.

And we can't fix that culture as long as some elements think that the problem is a function of affiliation with the Democrats. You can't fix a problem you don't understand.
