Currently MPEG on the internet is mostly MPEG 1. Not DVD's MPEG2. Most of what's out there is fairly low rate so no need for a low end decoder on todays boxes.

I think we will see a marriage of WebTV and DVD. Phillips and Toshiba have already mentioned something along these lines and Philips DVx 8000 box is one example. I expect there will be additional DVD/Web products introduced that will either need hardware decoders or expensive CPU's. The former presents an opportunity for companies that have MPEG2 decoders...
