no I don't think it is ironic at all and I don't think anybody else does either Brian.

There are only 2 kinds of people presenting this argument (that GOOG should have given in to the US feds and not China):

- apologizers for the Bush administration and their various fishing expeditions
- people trying to defend msft,yhoo and aol's position wrt this

The China news conveniently coincided with the DOJ news, but in reality, these 2 events/positions wrt Google have nothing to do with one another. Google cannot do battle with the Chinese government at this juncture. They need to play ball to the degree that they can. Most GOOG shareholders support this, I believe. The DOJ situation is completely different.
