fresc....."But when you are in power for over a decade, opposition has to jump on something.".....

I thought it was the auditor general that jumped on that " something " and then according to martin he was next to jump on that " something "?

....."I look at the economy and it is doing very well. 12 years and Canada has not been in deficit for years."....

I may be a bit confused on this but just exactly what can the government do to affect the economy other than raise or lower interest rates? Or maybe subsidize certain areas. Doesn't the world economy have more to do with how our own Canadian economy is doing than government.?

...."So bitch all you like about the so called corruption but how much interest did Canada have to pay to service that growing debt?(hundreds of millions per year) On top of that who really knows how corrupt the Government of that day really was."....

Didn't the conservative party of mulroney make some very unpopular decisions with regards to taxes that were a BIG help to the incoming liberal party in paying off any debts?
And didn't jean cretien say one of the first things he would do if elected would be to get rid of the hated GST...so I guess one could say thank you very much conservative party for helping the liberal party stay in power for way to long. :-)
