I read somewhere in the blogospere that Hamas has/will offer a 100 year hudna but no recognition of the right to exist. Could be some strange goings on coming in the mideast.

Were I an Israeli, that would not be sufficient for me.

The last thing you do is offer your enemy the chance to build his forces in peace and quiet until the moment he has gathered sufficient resources to destroy you.

A Hamas dominated Palestinian government is going to be very interesting to watch. They know they need financial resources in order to operate it. Resources that will be denied to them by the US and hopefully other governments so long as they fail to disown terror as a tool of resolving governmental differences.

And the Palestinian people now have an opportunity to understand the consequences of making bad decisions and alienating the entire world from their cause, as well as the miscalculations of the previous Fatah leadership in failing to operate a credible government with a goal of living at peace with Israel.

I may be incorrect, but I don't expect the same traditional support for the Palestinians as has existed in the past. It will very hard to have sympathy.

All I can say is that the Hamas leadership has been fairly elected. Now they hold the reins of power and the future of Palestine in their hands. They can be pragmatic and find accomodation with Israel, or they can be obstinate and set themselves up on the path of destruction.
