With video on demand/interactive video waiting in the wings to replace broadcast TV, this is an excellent strategy if you are Cisco. To deliver HD TV quality video over the Internet will require a different approach on the data transmission infrastructure end and Cisco is one if not the only company that is in a position to influence standards facilitating this.

We are moving into a different era with the primary communications medium and potentially right into the wheelhouse of the data communications leader, I wouldn't write off Cisco too early.
