Far left might be a bit strong but Kerry's record in the Senate is to the left side of the Democratic party, not just to the left side of the Senate as a whole.

It would be a very hard case to make that John Kerry is "far left". He flirts with the DLC. In fact, just off the top of the head, I can't think of any "far left" Senators.

Gore at times projected a centrist image, and at times has acted like a centrist, but his older writings lean far left, and some of his more recent statements are at least left.

Good heavens. Gore helped start the DLC, campaigned for the Dem nomination in 88 with the support of Ed Koch, campaigned with Clinton in 92 as a centrist and a DLC type (and, remember Clinton helped found the DLC). I hardly think caring about the environment qualifies as a "leftie".

Certainly strong criticism of Bush's policies wouldn't get him "leftie" status. Wesley Clark has been known to say some pretty strong things about Bush and he's certainly no "leftie."
