Mac sales should see a nice spike up when Merom based units start shipping, but for now, the old stuff is obsolete while the new stuff (until more recompiled software is out) is often painfully slow, back to 32-bits, and is also about to be replaced in a couple of months with faster better parts.

There aren't a lot of Mac users out there who don't have a largely useless 68XXX based Mac sitting somewhere. They've learned about the risks during the conversion period. Mac users have also been proud of the 64-bit Macs they've had for so long while PC's were 32-bit - paying a lot of money to go back to 32-bits can be galling.

Mac users are generally willing to pay more than PC users for their systems but expect to use them longer - it can make them a little more cautious about buying a system that's soon to be replaced with something a lot better.

How long until the 64-bit Merom Macs are out? How long until more re-compiled software is out?
