appears that the new orleans live coverage of several cops surrounding a guy with knife in mid afternoon and then having to pump several bullet into him , killing him has been good for new orders of taser guns. same with incident at Florida airport where got was off meds and ran off plane they shot and killed him too.
reading yahoo message board, several new posts this morning of more cities and towns placing orders for tasers.. new tasers also have camera on gun to film the action taken.
Lastly, it appears several courts cases have been thrown out.

It is moving stock. we will now have to wait to see if orders are coming in enough for company to be profitable. A few order here and there do not make a corporation. However, news films have done more to help tasr than hurt it in last couple of months. imo

City police consider switch to stun guns
Beanbag rounds stop armed man

Press & Sun-Bulletin
BINGHAMTON — The city's police bureau is considering getting Tasers, after a second incident involving a knife-wielding man.

Early Wednesday, police fired six beanbag rounds from a shotgun, forcing a suicidal 20-year-old to drop a 10-inch knife. The unidentified city man had already slashed himself on one wrist and was threatening to cut his throat.

Three weeks earlier, police used the beanbag rounds and pepper spray in an unsuccessful attempt to disarm 56-year-old Peter Sablich of 10 Crandall St. Three police officers fatally shot the mentally disturbed man on Main Street when he lunged at a patrolman who was slipping on the snowy pavement.

Now police are considering Tasers — which discharge 50,000 volts of electricity — as a more effective alternative to the beanbag rounds.

Six city police officers will spend Monday and Tuesday in Elmira, where they will undergo Taser training. Their recommendations will help determine whether the department adopts the use of the stun guns, Binghamton Police Chief John A. Butler said Wednesday.

"This month, we have already seen two situations where we clearly would have used it," he added.

The most recent incident began at 11:58 p.m. Tuesday at 152 State St. Police stopped all vehicle and pedestrian traffic in the area while officers tried to talk to the man.

"The man had the knife within inches of his neck and said he would stab himself if we didn't provide his girlfriend for him to talk to in two minutes," Butler said.

The officers then used beanbag rounds to disarm the man, who posed no threat to police, Butler said.

Police found a second large hunting knife on the man, who was taken to Binghamton General Hospital under mental health arrest for an evaluation, Butler said.

Butler said he was checking with law enforcement agencies who have Tasers to determine their feelings about the weapon. The Ithaca Police Department reported no problems with the stun guns, and the publicity surrounding their use might have even deterred people from assaulting or threatening officers, Butler said.

But prior to adopting the stun guns, the department would have to train its officers and develop a strict policy regarding their use.

"I don't even want to think about having to use it, but it's better than shooting somebody," Butler said. "It's another step before evoking the use of deadly force."
