Here's a Sarasota melodrama that has surfaced in this past week. In a local community, where many Nouveau Riche have ensconced themselves and provided an excellent high school, the father of a teenager attended a school conference called by the principal about allegations that this mans's daughter had been molested by a male teacher. The girl had made the charges. When the charges were read the father, in a rage left the conference, went down the hall to the room where the teacher was in front of a class of students and punched the teacher... who did not hit back. Immediately the media picked up the story. The Father was on the Bill O'Reilly show where his actions were lauded.. There were offers from the Fox News to appear.. He was getting praise for having defended his daughter's honor. Well, the rush to judgement against the teacher proved to be false. The cameras that are in the school for security proved that that teacher was not even in the room at the time the girl accused him of molesting her. What that teacher had done was reprimand her for spitting coke out of her mouth from the third floor of the school down over the head of a student on a lower floor...And for popping bubbles with her gum which made noise in a classroom. The girl making the accusations got her girl friends to lie.. Two later recanted and said they were trying to do her a favor. The father is now being prosecuted on charges of assault and though he still says he did the right thing, with all the evidence pointing to his daughter having fabricated the entire event. The aside of all this ruckus.. and swarms of those who thought vigilante behavior was warranted is.. The teacher is black... If anyone here can draw a parallel between this story and the tenor of the times... I would appreciate comments. This story in my words was taken from today's Sarasota Bradenton Herald..
