I think they will simply lock up the suckers, er, clients, for two years and never talk to the SEC. This situation reminds me of a dual PhD. program. The California State University system is not allowed to grant Ph.ds. Only the University of Cal system can do that. So, if you go to one of the state colleges, Fresno State or Long Beach or Hayward, where I went, you have to do a joint Ph.d with one of the UC campuses. Which means you have to take oral exams twice. As one of my PhD cousins told me, anyone who would do that is not smart enough to have a doctorate. <G> Any hedge fund that would deal with the SEC when they can get out of it with a simple 2 year lockup is not somebody I'd let manage my money.
