S&P Keeps Microsoft at Strong Buy, Google at Sell Plus: Analysts upgrade McKesson, Packeteer, and Broadcom, but cut ADVO's recommendation businessweek.com Google (GOOG ): Reiterates 2 STARS (sell) Analyst: Scott Kessler
During its quarterly results conference call on Jan. 26, Microsoft indicated it seeks to accelerate the launch of its adCenter Internet search advertising platform. The company also said it continues to invest aggressively in its search capabilities, specifically citing features like mapping, news, and images. We continue to believe Microsoft's focus on the search category will eventually adversely impact Google, which derives 99% of its revenues from Internet search advertising. Google is scheduled to report fourth quarter results on Tuesday, Jan. 31.
I'd love to see Google wow everybody and blow this guy Kessler out of the water. I don't like hyperemotional "analysts" especially when they work at the S&P! Microsoft LOST SHARE. If you want to downgrade GOOG, do it on valuation or the overall market for ads which could be slowing. But there is no conclusive evidence that msft will be able to turn this ship around, in fact, it is too late. |
