Hi all, read this article:

Hamas leader: 'Palestinian army' possible
cnn.com

This is my take on things...

The news above will probably piss off every Western country, but I see this is a very big step in the right direction. One of the reasons why peace negotiations really never bore any fruit was because there were so many armed factions that there was no chance to get a unified deal from the Palestinians.

However, if Hamas is successful at unifying the Palestinian factions into one army, then that is an enormous step forward towards a workable government. The West wants Hamas to disarm, but that really is stupid. A disarmed Hamas will never be able to unify the armed factions. Instead we should be hopeful that Hamas can either unify or stamp out the armed factions to get them under its own umbrella. Only then will the Israelis be able to negotiate with the Palestinians.

Of course, there's still one little problem. Hamas needs to forget about the idea of wiping Israel off the map. Until they change their ideology, peace will never be possible.
