This is not a Republican or a Democrat issue as the Roveites project. This is a issue of a US liberties and freedoms. It is an American issue and hence there are many Republican Senators also very concerned besides Kennedy. Sam Brownback and Kennedy think alike on this issue.

Coming to physical search and electronic eavesdropping. I wonder if you would still persist that electronic eavesdropping is a direct invasion of liberties. It violates the rights of a very large number of people very quickly. Let us play the game here for the moment by the rules that Bush is setting which is he kept Congress informed. Let the surveillance details be opened up to a select group of Senators from the Senate Intelligence Committee and the Senate Judiciary Committee. Why do you think Bush would claim executive priviledge for such a request?
