Hi Aladdin,
Thanks for your reply. I'm going to respond to it in several individual replies as you covered so many different issues in your post.
In your reply you said the following regarding my personal political POV's;
....to clarify my use of the word 'tone' these sample posts of yours seem to me to indicate a leaning towards agreeing with conservative writers unless I am misconstruing your use of bold.....
....Now I could go through say, your last 500 posts and classify them as to conservative / liberal and score it that way. Anecdotally that is effectively what I did in using the 'tone' statement (but obviously only a quick perusal). Maybe I am wrong and you are not right of me but the above is a sample of my reasoning.....
In my very first reply to you I said,
Could you cite a few issues where I am "to the right" of you? How about linking me to a few issues that show I am "righter than most"?
....But please, quote me verbatim & link me to those quotes. Perhaps you could start with the thread header.
I honestly think that if you started with the thread header none of this exchange would be necessary. Almost all of my posts on SI relate to what I say in my thread header.
I can see from your reply that you still are relying more on your opinion rather than gathering credible evidence in order to come an informed conclusion/POV.
Instead you link mostly to articles & blog entries I posted that are on topic for this thread - they expose & debunk reality defying POV's with credible, independently verifiable evidence. Even the posts that weren't on this thread were all about refuting reality defying POV's just like I do on this thread.
Where in any of those posts did I express my personal political views? I wasn't. None of those posts had me presenting my political POV & I wasn't supporting one. I was debunking reality defying POV's in each of them. No more, no less.
Agreeing with conservative writers who are presenting credible, independently verifiable POV's does not make me a conservative. If I agree with Howard Dean when he makes a factually accurate statement, does it make me a liberal?
Again, I suggest you read the thread header. That is where I put most of my energies into my posts - exposing & debunking reality defying POV's.
BTW, based on your posts here & a few I've read of yours elsewhere, I am probably to the right of you on most issues, but not for the reasons you cited. However, as we discussed previously, my main point of concern was with your "righter than most" reply to fresc's comment that I am "as right as they come". Since that issue has been cleared up, I see no reason to pursue this any further. |
