That makes sense to me. I could go with it being a passive right you get when, and only when, you have the opportunity to exercise it, but I agree with you, that it would be a better world if it were a more affirmative right, and if a woman wanted one, she should have access to one. I'm ok with calling it a right, as long as we don't get complacent about it- and start thinking it really is a right in any affirmative sense. I think women have become (or, even more importantly, that middle class and wealthy women have become) negligent in assuring the availability of choice for their poor and low incomes sisters.
