And so Mary dug out an old diary of mine from our cedar chest of memories. We had had such a nice day, lunch, movies and such.. But anyway, it was something I had written in the year when I was fourteen.. Actually it was diary of ALL our family, close and extended.
And you know what it talked about was family get togethers, dinners, going to movies together, dropping in for visits, fishing, hunting, gardening, illnesses, etc. just regular stuff of families and friends being good people and citizens..
And we never thought of anything else.. And you know what, as we grew up and became adults, we never talked of "family values" and such. We never bragged about it.. We just thought it was the way it was for better and for worse with all our human failings understood..... We understood it as human beings as we were,. Not like the others with their empty BS words...
Our family never liked fighting, war, intervention, meddling in other people's business and stuff like that. Only to help.. Never to harm..Never selfishly... And now we are on the other side of our government with our thoughts and values.. I don't know why, I thought OURS were the American way..Maybe it is just an anomaly in our nation's history. I don't know, but we will persevere.. I know it.. That's all we can do for WE are on the side of GOOD and we will WIN through our thoughts and values. And NOT through force and violence.
It's just the way it is.. Good always wins over bad.. |
