Look at the amazing parallels : We were never attacked. So why were we fighting? The LBJ-Nixon hawks claimed it was because we were stopping the Soviets and Chinese in Vietnam, We were never attacked by Iraq either. Dumbya and other chickenhawks claimed that it was because we were stopping Al Qaeda in Iraq. Just a civil war we got between and escalated into a major conflict. Dumbya did one better than LBJ/Nixon. This time, he started a civil war where there was none! Turns out the North Vietnamese hated the Soviets and CHinese. In fact in the late 70's, the VC fought a war against the CHinese, and the Soviets never moved into Vietnam. Ditto here. Saddam and Osama bin Laden hated each other. Even on the verge of the invasion, bin Laden made it clear that he couldn't care less if Saddam was killed or driven out.
