Well, 'liberal' is as liberal does... 'feelings' don't really come into it. (Still, most people divide 'conservative' or 'liberal' into two further subdivisions: whether the labels are referring to one's SOCIAL views, or FISCAL views. Thus: 'social conservative', 'fiscal conservative', 'social liberal', 'fiscal liberal'... or any combination of the previous).
You'll note I only referred to the 'liberalness' of you 'fiscal' views (I know nothing of your social views... you might well be a SOCIAL conservative as well as your views seem to be FISCALLY liberal). That combination of views (SOCIAL conservative / FISCAL liberal) is very common these days.
Fiscal PRUDENCE, balanced budgets, SMALL government = the position of a fiscal conservative.
Fiscal IMPRUDENCE, unbalanced budgets, BIG government = the position of a fiscal liberal.
